Designer, Special Projects Purpose of Position The Designer, Special Projects is responsible for creating and delivering book covers, logos and interior components for publication, either entirely new or using previously built templates. This position services various teams throughout Marvel Publishing, including Editorial and Marketing, as well as other LOBs and licensees. The ability to multi-task as well as a strong background in production is required. Knowledge of the comic-book industry is a plus. Responsibilities o Create both templated and unique designs for hardcover and softcover graphic novels — including development of covers, title pages, chapter breaks, etc. o Create complex page layouts and new designs for other high-end special projects. o Mockup covers for catalog use and third-party approval. o Design logos for publishing events/storylines, marketing programs and new comic-book titles. o Design covers and editorial pages for comic books. o Adjust Photoshop files to conform to comic-book specifications. o Take on projects for the Bullpen and other groups in cases of overflow. Qualifications o Strong communications skills o Strong organizational skills o Ability to manage deadlines and multitask to complete various time-sensitive projects o Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign o Creativity and design experience |
