Are you an experienced Aerospace engineer driven to create and launch cutting edge technologies for a high-growth, flight control and electric Vertical Takeoff and Land (e-VTOL) aircraft company? Would you like to get into a rapidly growing company and help design, simulate, prototype, build, and test our revolutionary new aerial vehicle? We're looking for an energetic and details-oriented engineer with knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of aerospace engineering in general and a working knowledge of other engineering and scientific fields as they relate to commercial and/or military aircraft.
The role reports directly to the CEO/CTO and works very closely with our Lead Systems Engineer/Lead Software Engineer. You shall also partner and collaborate with our talented electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and software development staff. The Senior Aerospace Engineer will be a thought leader for hybrid-powered e-VTOL and the human-machine interfaces that control the aircraft. This role will be instrumental in guiding the future innovations, to include other product initiatives, e.g., surgical robotics, industrial robotics, and VR/AR motion control. S/he will also be deeply involved in our operational flight test and certification program. We consider safety and ease of use a critical industry differentiator.

You have 5-10 years of experience with the design of large, complex assemblies from inception through V&V and production
Responsibilities:
Aerospace Engineer will develop critical subsystems from requirements formulation and early design through test, production, flight test, and vehicle recovery.
An Aerospace Engineer also contributes to the overall design of eVTOL including the primary composite structure, human interface, packaging, mass properties, failure modes, and contingency analysis
Lead design reviews internally and participate in reviews with colleagues and suppliers
Contribute to the overall design of e-VTOL including the primary composite structure, windows, soft goods, layout, mass properties, contingency scenarios, and testing
Perform due diligence analysis on designs including requirements review (human rating, regulatory compliance, human interface, etc.), hand calculations, FEA, failure modes, CFD and CAD in a rapid and iterative development environment
Expert ability to interpret specifications, Blueprints, and manufacturing plans.
Utilize the full spectrum of iterative development, rapid prototyping, design, analysis, test, and manufacturing techniques to create efficient structures and systems.
Develop critical electromechanical subsystems from requirements formulation through qualification, acceptance, integration, launch, and vehicle recovery.
The aircraft shall be governed by the FAA and other international standards organizations as a civilian transportation vehicle.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience developing engineering artifacts in MBSE methodology
- CAD/CAM (SOLIDWORKS and MATLAB/Simulink preferred), CFD and ERP Software (E2 MFG preferred)
- Mechanical aptitude and hands on experience (will be instrumental in assembling prototype aircraft) and familiarity with tools.
Hands on experience troubleshooting, setting up, and programming CNC machines is desired
Development and verification of machining process for complex fabrications, including work holding, fixtures, cutting tools, gages etc.
DFM experience a big plus
- 4-year degree from an accredited college or university in aerospace or engineering discipline (master's preferred) or equivalent experience
Support all continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
- Familiarity with R/C or conventional aircraft (as a vocation or hobby is a plus)
- Part 107 (Drone) FAA license is a plus, but not required
