Summary:
The main function of a software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical software engineer researches, designs, develops and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific and general computing applications.

Job Responsibilities:
• Modify existing databases and database management systems.
• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
• Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.

Skills:
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
• Basic knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.
• Basic ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
• Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc.

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.
• 2-4 years experience required.

Typical Day in the Role
• Purpose of the Team: This team works with operation excellence, and they are currently needing support to help rebuild their landing page where they host all of their Power BI.
• Key projects: They currently have a platform where they manage their subscriptions, permissions, and all Power BI. With new security protocols that came through Azure subscriptions they now need to rethink and rebuild this platform. They need support from a software development engineer to scale it and manage it. They are looking to have the individual help build the technical and functional specs so that their team can then take over afterwards.
• Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 10% meetings, 90% development work.

Candidate Requirements
• Years of Experience Required: 2 to 4 overall years of experience in the field.
• Degrees or certifications required: No degree is required to be eligible for this role.
• Disqualifiers: Candidates currently working on another contract that is not ending before April 29th, 2024, will not be eligible for this role. They do not want the contractor to work on two contracts at the same time as they worry how they will fill the 40hrs per week.
• Best vs. Average: The ideal candidates will have a proven track record managing end to end platform (not only the data that’s flowing into the platform and how that’s collected, but also managing the power BI).
• Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on meeting deadlines and quality of work.

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience 1. Minimum 3 years experience with platform development.
2. Minimum 3 years experience with being able to write queries in multiple languages (DAX, SQL, Kusto, etc.).
3. Minimum 3 years experience with experience managing data pipelines.

Compensation: 35-38.71 Hourly W2 (Open to C2C)
