Job Description

This position will act as a primary architectural principal and is responsible for driving technology innovation, data center infrastructure solutions advisory and leadership, in the areas of State Fund Private Cloud environment. This Principal Architect will be working on our current Cloud Technology initiative and be viewed internally as a go-to technical resource for a wide range of data center technologies, from servers & storage to the latest converged infrastructure and private cloud architectures.  The various architects and engineers in the team will look to him/her as a trusted advisor for these technologies and to be an expert in infrastructure transformation.  The Principal Architect will also be accountable for helping to drive hardware, software, and solution tool that are in line with State Fund cloud infrastructure direction and vision

         Establish ongoing processes and procedures that ensure production systems availability, optimal performance, reliability, resilience, disaster recovery and a high level of customer service.

         Assume leading role in architectural analysis, definition and recommendation of target architectures for Cloud technologies and solutions based on competence, vision and structures, which ensure impact on the roadmaps.

         Identify and anticipate key trends that impact strategic technology selection

         Work with State Fund IT Senior Leadership and develop effective infrastructure frameworks and strategies that can maintain system uptime of 99.90%.

         Develop upgrade roadmap and lead data center infrastructure improvements and manage them within 2018 IT approved budget.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

 

         10+ years of broadly based technical experience in system/network architecture, design and implementation in virtualized computing, storage, networking, telecommunications, data centers and related fields.

         Target System Architecture: Understand potentially complex cross product implications, communicate, influence and work with a wide audience in order to help drive the target system architecture across the Cloud systems portfolio.

         Innovation: Identify key trends and emerging technologies that can enhance or impact the solution architecture to maximize the value of State Fund Hybrid Cloud offering.  Supporting a culture of idea generation / thought leadership is expected.

         Technology Strategy: Contribute to technology and business planning for IT organization

         An industry recognized level of expertise in at least one key area (preferably several key areas) relevant to hybrid cloud platforms and infrastructure running different OS and application stacks.

         Strong creative ability demonstrated with an exceptional track record of innovation and hybrid cloud strategy generation.

         Extensive, knowledge and practical application experience working in advanced software defined networks concepts, Cloud computing and Platform as a Service methodology.

         Experience with Flexpod is a must

         Hosting and running websites on a large scale environment

         In-depth knowledge of Data Center operations

         Understanding of networks and firewall systems

         Experience with virtual technology, such as, VMWare ESX.

         Scripting experience and fluent in at least one scripting language: VB Script, PERL, or Windows PowerShell. Fluent in basic T-SQL language is a plus.

         Willingness to travel.

 

Professional Skills:

Preferred Skills

         Proven track record of implementing highly complex web products and cloud systems.

         Detailed knowledge of Windows/Linux operating systems and tools.

         Working knowledge of web services, web application development, multi-tier application systems.

         Knowledge of software configuration, source control, and build engineering, scripting and system administration is required.

          

Qualifications and Certifications:

         Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g. Computer Science, IT, or similar disciplines).

         Equivalent work experience implementing and operating enterprise level data center and/or office networks.

         MCITP, MCSE, RHCE , VCP or CCIE.
